We're here!

We putzed around this morning doing wash and straightening up. We went to a bank to exchange some cash when Barb noticed it was 12:00 when we thought it was 11:00. There is a time zone change. We had to be at the ferry terminal at 1:00 for our 2:00 departure, so we ran back to the motorhome and hooked up the Jeep. When I tried to put the satellite dish down, the control unit seemed dead and I couldn't get it working. We drove to the ferry terminal anyway, hoping the increased height wouldn't result in our getting bumped. When we arrived, they measured our total length for final fare calculations, but said the added height wasn't a problem....what a relief! After getting checked in, I fooled with the control unit some more and got it working, so was able to lower the dish after all...another relief.

We queued up in a line of about 5 lanes of vehicles and finally drove onto the ferry at about 1:30. We went up to the main deck and sat outside while the ferry pulled away.

Some pictures. Sorry about the rotation; I'll try to fix that later.

We went inside, got some lunch in one of their two restaurants, then relaxed in the television lounge for the remainder of the 2 hr and 20 min cruise to Nova Scotia. All this saved us about 250 miles of driving.

A whacky NS hot rod
When we got off, we headed for the nearest WalMart, which was only a few miles away. That's where we are now, drinking wine and watching satellite TV. Tomorrow, we plan to drive the Jeep to Brier Island, 25 miles down a peninsula on the Bay of Fundy, to catch a whale-watching cruise.
